Two standout quantum startups, CatQ and Deteqt, have been named in the 2025 Tech23 deep tech list by Cicada Innovations, showcasing the future of sovereign capability.
CatQ, a spinout from The Australian National University, is tackling one of the biggest challenges in quantum computing: error correction. Their breakthrough tech pre-emptively corrects optical quantum errors, boosting performance up to 1,000x.
Deteqt is developing compact quantum sensors that enable GPS-free navigation using diamond electron spin, already attracting defence interest with a $3.4M contract. A huge leap for quantum sensing and secure mobility.
Both companies are proof that Australia’s quantum sector is not only globally competitive but mission-critical for national resilience.
