The Australian Quantum Software Network

admin

A newly registered not-for-profit.

The Australian Quantum Software Network (AQSN) Limited is an Australian Charities Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission registered organisation with the goal of promoting and enhancing the research, development and education of quantum algorithms, software and theory.  The AQSN is currently under review with the Australian Tax Office for DGR status, allowing for tax deductible donations to the Network to help promote our goals.

Our current operations are funded solely from donations, membership dues and the hardwork of our current team.  Please reach out to admin@quantumsoftware.org.au if you’d like to make a donation or if you represent an organisation that would like to take advantage of our extraordinary network and sponsor a program.

Memberships are now live!

Programs within the AQSN will only be available for members.  We offer three tiers of memberships.  $100 AUD per year for continuing academics and professionals.  $50 AUD per year for postdocs and other non-continuing academics and a free, four year membership for Honours, Masters and PhD students.  New members will be verified by a member of the board of directors upon sign up, must be affiliated with one of our member and/or partner organisations, and must be primarily focused on research, development or education related to quantum algorithms, software or theory.   We have launched three new programs for the AQSN to help drive new memberships, as detailed below.

When signed up for membership, you are able to add/amend your own personal profile or add/amend your academic group.  New features will allow members to add events, job adverts and news themselves.  If you have anything you would like to add or advertise on the website, please contact admin@quantumsoftware.org.au until these new features are launched.

Apply for Membership in AQSN

Our first Programs: AQSN Micro and MesoGrants sponsored by BTQ and Hon Hai Research Institute. ROUND 1: Due 30th June 2025.

First pioneered in the quantum ecosystem by the Unitary Foundation, the Australian Quantum Software Network is establishing a series of industry sponsored Microgrants, targeted at specific topics in Quantum Algorithms, Software and Theory research.

  • Honours, Masters and PhD students who are members of AQSN can apply for MicroGrants up to $7,500 AUD for open-source projects of interest to sponsors.
  • All members of the AQSN can apply for MesoGrants between $30,000-$40,000 AUD for open-source projects of interest to sponsors.

Our first Programs: AQSN has joined the EPSRC International Network in Space Quantum Technologies.

The International Network in Space Quantum Technologies (INSQT) has been established to bring together the international space quantum community to tackle these engineering challenges and accelerate development of quantum space missions. It also aims to establish a roadmap for the space quantum internet and identify key steps and avenues for research. INSQT members include academic and public sector institutions, research technology organisations, small & medium enterprise (SME) and large companies. There are more than 40 members across the world.

As a member of INSQT, early career researchers (ECRs) would be prioritised for access to travel/visit funding and IT resource support. We would also encourage equality, diversity, & inclusion (EDI) by promoting these opportunities to traditionally less well represented groups within the network. Travel has long been identified as a barrier to collaboration and networking for many researchers, including disabled staff, part-time workers, and those with caring responsibilities. We will make particular emphasis on actively supporting people such as these as they are amongst those most likely to be disadvantaged from taking part in traditional networks.

Check out what’s on offer from INSQT

We’re so grateful to have you with us and excited for what’s ahead. There’s so much more to come for AQSN, and please reach out to admin@quantumsoftware.org.auwith any questions or if you would like to help.  Here’s to more growth, creativity, and success!
