In this case study presentation, RIKEN and Q-CTRL share how we break through the historical limitations of open-system quantum simulation.
This approach has historically been limited in scale, typically restricted to 1–2 system qubits and fewer than 10 time steps due to noise and hardware constraints. In this work, we significantly extend that boundary—demonstrating simulations with up to 7 system qubits and 40 time steps, including nonlocal dissipation, across both trapped-ion and superconducting platforms.
