The Hon-Hai Quantum Computing Research Center, headquartered in Taiwan, has research staff based in Australia, Hong Kong, Japan, Netherlands, Singapore and the United States and a global network of research collaborators in both academia and industry. To support fundamental theoretical quantum computing research in Australia and develop collaborative partnerships with future leaders in the field, the Hon Hai (Foxconn) Quantum Computing Research Center is offering Micro- and MesoGrants targeting research in selected topics.

The Hon Hai (Foxconn) quantum computing research center welcomes applications for research projects aligned with the following topics:

  • Classical Algorithms for Simulating Quantum Systems:
    • Resources for quantum computation and quantum advantage
    • Noise and its impact on quantum advantage
    • New algorithms for simulating quantum circuits
  • Quantum Algorithms:
    • New algorithms for specific decision, function or sampling problems
    • New algorithms for quantum chemistry applications
  • Learning:
    • New algorithms for property testing, learning quantum states and dynamics
    • Noise characterization
  • Complexity:
    • Classical/quantum separations including hardness proofs for classical simulability.

MicroGrants of up to $7,500 AUD are offered for independent or collaborative research projects. MesoGrants of $30,000-$40,000 AUD are offered for collaborative research projects. MesoGrant applicants are encouraged to engage with a research scientist from the Hon Hai Quantum Computing Research Center prior to submission of their application. MicroGrant and MesoGrant project funding is expected to support 12 months of research with successful longer-term projects encouraged to reapply at the end of this period. For successful projects, up to an additional $20,000 AUD is offered to support costs associated with the dissemination of results including open access publication and/or presentation at selected major conferences.

The Australian Quantum Software Network Conference brings together researchers, developers, industry leaders and emerging talent from across the quantum software ecosystem.

EPSRC International Network in Space Quantum Technologies

The International Network in Space Quantum Technologies (INSQT) has been established to bring together the international space quantum community to tackle these engineering challenges and accelerate development of quantum space missions. It also aims to establish a roadmap for the space quantum internet and identify key steps and avenues for research. INSQT members include academic and public sector institutions, research technology organisations, small & medium enterprise (SME) and large companies. There are more than 40 members across the world. AQSN MicroGrants and MesoGrants Sponsored by BTQ - Closing 30th June 2025

BTQ is committed to accelerating and utilizing the first application of quantum computers for use in consensus protocols, we are paving the way for a more secure and efficient future. They offer a range of post quantum products, from custom-built languages and compilers to cloud-accessible software solutions and dedicated hardware. Awardees will be able to interact with the team based at the BTQ AU office located in the Stone & Chalk ScaleUp Hub, Sydney.
