AQSN MicroGrants and MesoGrants Sponsored by BTQ - Closing 30th June 2025

BTQ is committed to accelerating and utilizing the first application of quantum computers for use in consensus protocols, we are paving the way for a more secure and efficient future. They offer a range of post quantum products, from custom-built languages and compilers to cloud-accessible software solutions and dedicated hardware. Awardees will be able to interact with the team based at the BTQ AU office located in the Stone & Chalk ScaleUp Hub, Sydney

First pioneered in the quantum ecosystem by the Unitary Foundation, the Australian Quantum Software Network is establishing a series of industry sponsored Microgrants, targeted at specific topics in Quantum Algorithms, Software and Theory research.

Honours, Masters and PhD students who are members of AQSN can apply for MicroGrants up to $7,500 AUD for open-source projects of interest to sponsors.

All members of the AQSN can apply for MesoGrants between $30,000-$40,000 AUD for open-source projects of interest to sponsors.

Research eligible for Micro- and MesoGrants sponsored by BTQ include:

  • Resource estimation for breaking cryptography using fault tolerant quantum computers (photonic, neutral atomic, and/or superconducting platforms in scope).
  • Novel quantum consensus protocols.
  • Secure transactions enabled by quantum processing

Project sponsors may offer continued funding on a case-by-case basis for successful projects.

Round ONE BTQ AQSN Micro- and MesoGrants will close on the 30th June 2025

Interested applicants are encouraged the AQSN Micro- and MesoGrant FAQ for details of the terms and conditions.

Applicants should prepare a current CV (to a maximum of two pages) and a single page proposal (not including references and tentative budget) and apply using the link below.

Other Projects

EPSRC International Network in Space Quantum Technologies

The International Network in Space Quantum Technologies (INSQT) has been established to bring together the international space quantum community to tackle these engineering challenges and accelerate development of quantum space missions. It also aims to establish a roadmap for the space quantum internet and identify key steps and avenues for research. INSQT members include academic and public sector institutions, research technology organisations, small & medium enterprise (SME) and large companies. There are more than 40 members across the world. Please contact the admin of the AQSN (admin@quantumsoftware.org.au) to discuss if you would be interested in participating in INSQT initiatives

Apply for Membership in the AQSN

AQSN Projects and programs are only available to members of the Australian Quantum Software Network. Please sign up today. Membership is open to Honours, Masters and PhD students, Early and Mid-career researchers and senior members of the community. Verifiable affiliation with one of our member or partner organisations is required for membership.
