Background

Our Organisation

The Australian Quantum Software Network

The Australian Quantum Software Network Limited (AQSN) is a registered not-for profit organisation under the Australian Charities and Not-for profit Commission (ACNC), established as a collaborative organisation for the Australian quantum community, with a specific focus on work related to quantum algorithms, software and theory. You can check out the details of the AQSN on the ACNC website and current charitable status on the Australian Business Register.

The AQSN is currently in the process of registration for Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status with the Australian Tax Office.  Once registered, all memberships and donations to AQSN are tax deductible within Australia.

Donations to the AQSN

The easiest way to donate to the AQSN as an individual is to become a member if you are a part of the quantum algorithms, software and theory community and affiliated with one of our member or partner institutions.

For institutions wishing to become members of AQSN, please contact us.  Member institutions are restricted to Australian entities with a registered Australian Business Number (ABN) and a primary purpose of research and development in quantum algorithms, software and theory.  Partner institutions can be both International or Australian entities with a strong research and development focus on quantum technologies.  Both member and partner institutions can be academic, governmental or private entities.

The AQSN is designed to connect the best and brightest minds in Australian quantum software, algorithms and theory to the broader quantum ecosystems both in Australia and Internationally.  We endeavour to provide resources to our community from the quantum ecosystem to tackle problems and find solutions to the most pressing problems in our industry – both near term and more far reaching blue-sky ideas.  We solicit donations from organisations and individuals in order to facilitate this research.  Our projects can take many forms, from collaborative research to the sponsoring of microgrants for students and early career researchers and to the establishment of substantive research projects that can aid your organisation in developing quantum technologies.  We aim to connect the right people in our network to the right organisations to push forward the development of quantum technology.

As a registered not-for-profit organisation we are eager to discuss how to fund and manage projects for your organisation and connect you to the right person.  This may be a small blue-sky project that your organisation finds interesting or it may be a longer term collaboration to provide quantum algorithms, software and theory support to your business or university.  Please contact our directors to discuss opportunities to collaborate with the AQSN and take advantage of our world class expertise.

Management of the AQSN

Upon its establishment, the AQSN appointed a three person board of directors to guide the networks initial set-up.  These members are drawn from the quantum algorithms, software and theory community.  The current board of directors are:

Upon establishment of the Network and the generation of a membership base, the board of directors will be elected from nominations and a general vote from the AQSN membership.

The AQSN has also established a five person research evaluation committee to review and assess applications for funding through the network.  The inaugural committee are:

The research evaluation committee will be appointed by the board of directors, drawn from the membership of the AQSN and will rotate at the discretion of the board.
